On May 16th, 2013 the Executive Lounge at Road 13 will re-open for the spring, summer and fall. Visitors will be able to do a seated tasting of Road 13's highest quality wines while enjoying a beautiful view of the valley. The entrance/tasting fee is $10 per person non-refundable and minors are not permitted.
Beginning with the re-opening is an initial trail run of food service at Road 13 in the Executive Lounge. The focus will still be on tasting, with limited, exceptional food choices devised by Edible Canada.
The Executive Tasting Lounge will be open daily from 11am to 5pm, with food pairings available until 3:30pm. Reservations are recommended.
The Best of Varietal awards were handed out on May 2, 2013 and Road 13 received recognition for the 2011 Seventy-Four K as well as the newly released 2011 Syrah. Both are available for sale in the wine shop.

Road 13 Vineyards has been honored with an award for the 2009 Sparkling Chenin Blanc at the 2012 Platinum Judging. Here is what the judges had to say:
"It is not easy to make a great sparkling wine out of Chenin Blanc, but the folks at Road 13 continue to pull it off with style. The grapes come from Road 13's estate Home Vineyard on the Golden Mile of the southern Okanagan Valley. This opens with fresh toastiness in the nose, with creamy notes that lead to explosive flavors of white peaches and apricots."
Weather conditions in the winter were relatively normal and our vineyards were free from winter damage.
The early spring was cool and wet. May brought some good hours of sunshine and June was seasonally cool with well above average rainfall. The rainfall of June affected the flowering of some of our early varieties which resulted in smaller bunches and smaller crop. By the beginning of July, the growing season was about two weeks behind schedule and we were looking for another cool climate vintage.July, August and September were simply stellar. Long hours of sunshine, very warm without extreme temperature, cool nights and very dry.
Harvest began on the 23rd of September with our Castle Pinot Noir. The fruit was ripe and in great condition. October temperature cooled off and the clouds settled in the valley by mid-October. The thick layer of clouds protected the valley from major frost and extended the ripening season for the late varieties such as the Chenin Blanc, Syrah and Cabernets.
2012 fruit quality has been exceptional with good level of sugar, great flavor profiles and excellent phenolic ripeness. It's all about the dirt & Mother Nature!
The 2012 Canadian Wine Awards have been judged and the medals awarded and Road 13 is happy to announce that we received 17 medals! View our Awards Page for a full list of the loot.
